My TROY TSD-U dumbbells arrived promptly, well-packaged, and blemish-free. I have a set of TSD-R(ubber) dumbbells and the superior finish of the urethane versions is apparent. The knurling is more uniform among the TSD-U’s than the TSD-R’s and the grips are both thicker around and slightly shorter in length (from end to end). This gives the dumbbells a compact and stable feel and makes them sit equally well on saddled and flat dumbbell racks. The texture of the urethane is remarkably similar to rubber in terms of cushioning or “softness” but has cleaner appearance with sharper lines. The white high gloss enamel makes the TROY lettering pop. If these dumbbells were offered with contoured handles, they would be perfect.
